I am a Brooklyn native with a degree in English from NYU. My experience has been somewhat varied, but that variation has given me a wide range of skills. As Marketing Assistant for WJM Associates, I gained both administrative and marketing experience. After that job I worked as a temp, working for almost a year in the Secondary Marketing department of the New York Mortgage Company. Since my experience had been primarily in language-based fields, working for a mortgage company was quite a change. After my stint there, I had shorter-term jobs, which exposed me to a wide range of corporate practice and gave me some new job skills.
Through all of this, I was volunteering as an Assistant Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts and a Committee Manager for the Shoujo Arts Society (a non-profit organization that puts on the Shoujocon anime convention). In these jobs I had a chance to lead, as well as hone my writing and web-design skills.
I also worked at a small e-commerce company in Brooklyn. The job combined elements of marketing, editing, and web design. While I was there, I had the chance to learn about such things as Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and overall what makes a business work. I also had the chance to set up and write the Allergy Be Gone blog (http://blog.allergyebgone.com), as well as help to expand the company into the field of social networking.
Currently I am seeking a job that will let me use my diverse skills.
